Registered Midwife

Full Time Fixed Term
Mackay, Qld

There has never been a better time to be involved in a project driven program as a midwife.

You will have the opportunity to utilise and expand your skills providing care for women in the following areas:

  • Evidence based midwifery practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Working in partnership with women and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Supporting the Midwifery Unit Manager in service development and strategies to ensure quality and safety processes are integrated into service provision
  • Providing clinical guidance and leadership to members of the team

Vanguard Health will provide you with the following during your engagement:

  • An hourly rate of $85 per hour for 12 hour day shifts (0700 to 1930) and a rate of $95 per hour for 12 hour night shifts (1900 to 0730) during a 7 day work week.
  • Accommodation for the period of time you are engaged by Vanguard Health
  • Flights to and from Mackay from your normal place of residence nearest airport once a month
  • Support and assistance from the Vanguard Health workforce and operations team.

As a Registered Midwife you will perform your specialised role in partnership with our Obstetricians and Paediatricians, with the guidance and support of our experienced Maternity Management team. The ideal applicant will possess an enthusiastic and mature attitude, demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment.

How do I join?

What are the requirements to join the Vanguard Health Workforce?

All Vanguard Health Workforce staff are required to provide evidence of

  • Up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination and FLU vaccination
  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Qualifications (we require this in addition to your AHPRA registration number). If you don’t have evidence of your qualifications, you can contact the institution where you trained/studied to obtain a copy
  • Current police check

Vanguard Health nurses must also complete the following mandatory education:

  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • Queensland Health COVID-19 vaccination modules—adult and paediatric
  • Infection control
  • Hand hygiene
  • Vanguard Health policies and procedures

Vanguard Health medical officers must also complete the following mandatory training:

  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • Infection control
  • Hand hygiene
  • Vanguard Health policies and procedures

Other training, credentials and qualifications may be required depending on the role.

If I need to work in a remote location will I be assisted with travel arrangements?

Yes, if you are required to work in a remote location, assistance with travel and accommodation will be included in your contract.

Does Vanguard Health supply uniforms?

Yes, we will provide you with a uniform for your deployment.

How much will I be paid?

Pay rates vary however all Vanguard Workforce staff are paid above award wages. You will be advised of the pay rate and other entitlements prior to any deployment.

Do I have to accept any work that is offered?

No, you are not obliged to accept work that is offered to you. Once you apply, you will have the flexibility to accept or decline any work that is offered to you.
